Chain Lube
Chain Lube
Needing chain lube for your bike? We’ve got a wide range of lube’s for different riding conditions & for different bikes.
When choosing a chain lube you will notice there are ‘Wet’ & ‘Dry’ lubricants. This looks a little strange to see ‘dry’ on a lubricant bottle but it actually refers to the conditions you are riding in.
So if you are riding in wet weather, or on wet trails & roads, you will need a Wet Chain Lube. And the same goes for dry weather riding, you will need a Dry Chain Lube.
A wet chain lube is going to have more sticking power to your chain. This means it’s chemical composition is going to be quite viscous & thick. So that it won’t wash off your chain as you ride through muck & grime & weather the rain.
A dry chain lube is conversely quite a light lubricant, and quite thin so as not to pick up dust and particles from the road & trail. You will find it you ride through the wet with your dry chain lube that your chain will start gettin’ noisy very quickly!
Speaking of noisy, we recommend you lubricate your chain as soon as you hear is squeakin’ when you ride. A noisy chain is a chain that has a lot of friction & friction wears down parts. Meaning you will need to replace your components faster – costing you more money! Maintenance is how you save money on your bike, so we always recommend getting familiar with the basics of maintaining your bike.
