Some seatposts are designed to take a clamping bracket which then holds the saddle on. You will commonly find these on older bicycles, especially if they have a ‘candlestick’ seat post.

You will know if this is the bracket you need if you have tried to replace your seatpost of saddle & found yourself holding multiple pieces. However you may know this as a ‘knuckle’ on the saddle too. Because some of the budget friendly saddles will come in this style of mounting to your seatpost.

These saddle brackets are a removable piece of the set up of your bike, meaning that you can remove them to reveal standard saddle rails. So in this way, any saddle can be modified to suit a candlestock seatpost using this saddle bracket.
