Sinter Brakes

Sinter is a European brand making excellent quality organic brake pads.

Sinter specialise in organic disc brake pads for mountain bike applications. We’re talking downhill, enduro & racing. So these are serious pads with predictable performance.

Trying to figure out which pads you need for your brakes? Sinter have a pad finder guide here. This finder goes by shape & brand, so you’re best bet for figuring out which one you need is to remove a pad from your brakes. Or read the model of your brake from the lever or the caliper to confirm.

Below Sinter explain their decision to make organic compound pads:

WHY ORGANIC?

Sinter only make organic brake pads. Both organic and metallic pads are manufactured using a bonding process. Occasionally there is confusion around our name but we always like to point out we only make organic pads.

Organic pads are comprised of different types of fibres and materials. Each compound is a fine balance between lubricants and abrasives. It’s a little bit like baking a cake – small changes to ingredients or combinations can result in significantly different braking characteristics.

We use fibres such as kevlar, ceramics, clay minerals and carbon combined with resins. Our friction materials R&D lab go to great lengths to develop pads that deliver particular characteristics to suit individual riding styles and perform exceptionally.

One of the greatest benefits of organic pads is that they transfer less heat into the caliper via the rotor. They don’t conduct heat as readily as metallic pads so the braking energy is retained in the pad and rotor – the result is a more stable braking system with greater modulation and predictability.

SINTER BRAKE PAD COMPOUNDS
RED s514

These brake pads offer consistent performance, thanks to their medium compound and friction stabilizers. They provide reliable braking with smooth modulation and lever feel with excellent durability. The inclusion of ceramic particles ensures a soft bite and strong resistance to wear, making them a great value upgrade from OEM pads.

GREEN s2032

Designed with one thing in mind – extreme braking performance in diverse temperature conditions. The s2032 braking compound is a state-of-the-art material. It enables racers to brake aggressively, while maintaining the ultimate power of control in all situations – regardless of the riding surface.

BLUE s530

The pad is distinctively electric blue in colour and it is adapted to provide constant braking power, high modulation, and comfort on the brake lever as well as slow wear across all temperature conditions. That is what makes it especially suitable for e-bikes and other heavy bicycles.

BLACK s550

This semi-metallic organic compound is designed to offer the perfect blend of pad longevity and predictable performance at a range of temperatures in all conditions – including muddy and wet.
