What is an ahead stem?

An Ahead stem is a type of bicycle stem that attaches to the steerer tube of a bike’s fork without the use of a quill. Instead of sliding into the steerer tube, an Ahead stem clamps onto the outside of the steerer tube using a system of two or more bolts. This design provides several benefits over quill stems, including greater adjustability, improved stiffness and strength. And compatibility with a wider range of fork sizes. Ahead stems have become the standard on most modern bicycles, including road bikes, mountain bikes, and hybrid bikes.
