Because standards in the bicycle industry are frustratingly vague & inconsistent, you will need different bolts! Much as we wish there was just one kind of bolt required for a bottom bracket, there isn’t.
Sometimes referred to as a crank bolt, you will need a bottom bracket bolt to affix a crank arm to your BB. You will also need to match the style of bolt for your BB to ensure your crank won’t fall off! Some BB’s require a pinch bolt, or may use a hollow bolt. Hollow bolts are generally used to reduce weight on your bike.
